Senior Technical Service Engineer

Requirements:

  1. Education, Experience, Certificate: S1 Mining Engineer with a minimum 5 year experience in mining/blasting industry.
  2. A Driving License (SIM A).
  3. Ability to communicate in English – verbal and writing.

Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise

  1. Detailed knowledge of products and applications across markets and its application.
  2. Able to complete design of specialised blasting techniques
  3. Able to perform detailed analysis of collected data and its effect on blast results.
  4. Contributes to the development of existing blasting models.
  5. Competent knowledge of blast design to suit specific mining techniques.
  6. Able to analyse the impact of drill & blast costs on downstream costs and the effect on blast design.
  7. Able to handle all aspects of blast related problems and can ANTICIPATE and avoid problems.
  8. Solves blasting problems on an operational basis.
  9. Defines market needs for new products.

Business Effectiveness

  1. Analyses customer requirements and FORMULATES PLANS to deliver bottom-line benefits to the customer and AEL Mining Services.
  2. Active member of account management team and delivers on agreed T.S. activities and projects.
  3. SUPPORTS market strategies by collection of competitor, customer and environment information and trends.
  4. OBTAINS ACKNOWLEDGMENT for T.S. work from customers.
  5. Regularly gains formal acknowledgment of the value of Technical Service work from customers, via project plans, joint papers, letters, etc.
  6. Determines drill & blast risk.
  7. Contributes to CROSS-FUNCTION TEAMS and co-ordinates if required.
  8. Technical Service accountability for strategic and/or high risk accounts.

Personal & Management Effectiveness

  1. Contributes to development of customer satisfaction plans as part of the local business unit strategy.
  2. Recognizes conflict possibilities and identifies and implements resolutions.
  3. Practises oral, written and presentation skills.
  4. Works well under pressure, can PRIORITISE the key issues.
  5. Provides guidance and coaching to Technical Services Engineers, Graduate TSE and Operational Staff.
  6. Effective interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels.
  7. Writes Technical Service plan for specific accounts.
  8. Identifies plans and manages larger projects involving cross-functional teams.
  9. Assistance with capital authorization and justification.

Customer Relationships & Communications

  1. MAINTAINS established operational relationships and develops KEY strategic contacts and relationships.
  2. Has Technical Service accountability for ‘large’, strategic and/or high risk accounts.
  3. Able to coordinate and present Blasting Competency Program course content
