Caterpillar and Cat dealer Barloworld Equipment worked together to help an iron ore mine in South Africa reduce fuel costs without sacrificing productivity. By analyzing site conditions as well as data from the mine’s fleet of Cat 795F AC trucks, they determined that operators could use less horsepower without reducing productivity. The mine saved in excess of $2 million in fuel costs over a two-year period.
