Acala is a mining services company under PT Acala Genesa Sumberdaya that provides specialized business services in the mining industry, supported by highly qualified professionals who uphold professionalism.
We are currently seeking an individual as the candidate with a strong background in construction management and mining to assist in supporting the implementation and construction of our in-field gold mining client at a remote open-pit mining project located in Indonesia.
The positions to be filled are as follows:
Geologist Manager
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology Engineering.
- A Master’s degree or higher in a specialized area such as Economic Geology or Mining Geology is highly desirable
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in mineral exploration and mining geology, including proven success in leading geological teams.
- Demonstrated experience in resource estimation and reporting using JORC, SNI and KCMI.
- Certified Professional Geologist (P.Geo, MAusIMM, etc.) or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
- Training in safety management systems for fieldwork and operational sites.
- First Aid or Emergency Response training for field operations is beneficial.
- Profound knowledge in structural geology, mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry.
- Proficiency in using geological modeling and resource estimation software, including Leapfrog, Micromine, and Surpac.
- Experience in various drilling techniques, including core logging, and an ability to guide exploration from early-stage prospecting to resource definition.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines, managing high-pressure situations efficiently.
- Competent in project budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Willing to be placed at West Halmahera or Head Office in Jakarta.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and develop the geology team to perform efficiently, ensuring the professional growth of all team members.
- Allocate resources effectively across multiple exploration sites, ensuring fieldwork is conducted safely and within deadlines.
- Communicate expectations clearly, set objectives, and provide regular feedback to geology staff.
- Design and implement geological survey programs (e.g., geophysical, geochemical, and geotechnical surveys) for exploration and production purposes.
- Analyze geological and geotechnical data, prepare geological models, and provide interpretations to guide decision-making on mining operations.
- Utilize and stay updated on various geological software to model data, including 3D mapping and resource estimation software.
- Conduct detailed resource estimation processes, working closely with the mine planning and engineering teams.
- Review and validate the geological block models, updating them as new data becomes available to ensure that resource/reserve estimates are accurate and reflect current conditions.
- Prepare resource and reserve reports in compliance with industry standard.
- Ensure that geological and exploration activities follow applicable regulations, such as safety standards, environmental policies, and local mining laws.
- Prepare and submit documentation for permits and licenses required for exploration or mining activities.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments and collaborate with environmental managers to ensure sustainable exploration practices.
- Work closely with mine planning, metallurgical, and environmental teams to integrate geological data into operational plans.
- Support the finance and business development teams by providing geological inputs for project valuations and economic models.
- Serve as the primary contact between geology teams and external stakeholders, including consultants and regulatory agencies.
