At its phosphate mine in North Carolina, USA, PotashCorp is leveraging technology to manage the risk of operator fatigue. In partnership with Caterpillar Safety Services, the mine implemented the Cat Driver Safety System to monitor operators in the cab, using the data the system provides to get a true picture of their level of fatigue. This assessment made it easier for managers to have informed, open discussions with operators about the risk — and to work together to reduce it.
