Autonomous Oil Sands Operation Relies on Proven Technology and a Partnership Approach (Spanish)

When Imperial Oil made the decision to implement autonomous haulage at its Kearl operation, the company faced a number of firsts. Kearl was the first application of Cat MineStar Command for hauling in the extreme weather and challenging underfoot conditions found in the oil sands. And it was the first time Caterpillar had implemented Command for hauling on Cat 797F 364-tonne (401-ton) trucks. But while the application was new, the technology itself has already been proven on a number of mine sites around the world and it is being supported by a team of experts committed to its success.

See how Imperial Oil, Finning Canada and Caterpillar came together as one team to mine better in the Canadian Oil Sands.
