Controlling Costs through Improved Efficiency

Cerrejon is one of the world’s largest surface coal mines. Located in Colombia, it has six operating pits, thousands of employees and a large equipment fleet. In order to maintain profitability, Cerrejon looks for ways to control its operating costs and keep productivity high. This effort led the mine to participate in a trial of a new Cat® electric drive truck model, the 794 AC. Cerrejon is benefiting from a lower cost per ton thanks to the truck’s high availability, ease of maintenance, durability and speed on grade. Combined with operator training and equipment support provided by Cat dealer RELIANZ Mining Solutions, the 794 AC is helping the mine lower its overall operating costs.
