Indonesia is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 or earlier, supported by strong policies and accurate baselines. The country is following global trends by transitioning its energy sector towards cleaner alternatives. Notably, the mining sector, particularly nickel mining for battery technology, is experiencing rapid growth. The power generation sector is embracing renewables, with the Electricity Supply Business Plan 2021-2030 reflecting this shift, and the government is facilitating electric vehicle adoption. The oil and gas sector, a major GDP contributor, holds potential for development due to Indonesia’s abundant gas resources. Challenges exist, but industry experts aim to optimize environmental and economic benefits, and various associations will present their efforts toward Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions goal.
