Detour Gold’s plan to turn an abandoned underground mine into a new surface operation was met with a number of obstacles, including difficult geological conditions and low-grade ore. Before the company’s Detour Lake mine even began production, Detour partnered with Toromont to help solve this challenge with a fleet of Cat electric-drive mining trucks. Toromont’s support went well beyond the machines themselves, with the dealer partnering on site to train operators and reconfigure haul roads to ensure the highest productivity from the truck fleet.
